Hello I was just looking up history of my husbands family, his grandfather told us his grandfather Nisbet came from Scotland in the 1800s and we have a book of the complete Nisbet family line and we where wanting to get in touch with some of our relatives and find out more about our family, to see if any was still in scotland. My husbands gradfathers name is Perk Nesbit and his second cousin created the cotton picker A.R. Nisbet. Perk's father changed the spelling of the Nisbet Name to Nesbit so that people would pronounce it correctly. If you could give me any info on this family I would greatly appreciate it, and if I can help you in any way I will.

My mother, Annie Stuart Nesbitt, was the daughter of George Alexander Nesbitt (b. 24 Jan. 1871 in Clones, Co. Monaghan, Ireland, d. 1 April 1944 in Belfast, Co. Down, Ireland, and Elizabeth Jane Gregg. Grand- father William David Nesbitt of Drumlaney, Co. Monaghan, Ireland b. about 1826 in Drumarry, Co. Monaghan, Ireland, died 14 Feb. 1898 in Clonoulla, Co. Monaghan, Ireland, and Grand-mother Mary Wright. I would like to find someone from this line of Nesbitts who has more research done and would like to share it with me. Our records are somewhat incomplete at this point.

I came across this web site after doing a search for Harry Nisbet, brother of my great great grandfather, James Nisbet. They came from Scotland through Ellis Island, but became separated during the immigration process and never heard from each other again. James Nisbet settled in Oneco, CT and worked in the granite quarries here and in several other parts of the U.S. I came across an entry dated June 15, 2001 by Selina Nisbett on your web site, ...but the email address was not active. It would be interesting if the Harry mentioned in that entry were James' long lost brother, Harry! I believe James and Harry Nisbet originated from Kilsyth, Scotland, but I will check with my Aunt, who visited their childhood home in Kilsyth(?). James was regarded highly by the family and lived into his early 90's before being killed in a quarry accident (he was still working at the time!). Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

Hi! Now living in Galashiels, Scottish Borders (a few miles from the village of Nisbet), originally from Torphichen, West Lothian. Son of James Nisbet & Grandson of David Nisbet, Brunton Farm, Torphichen. Know that some Nisbet's moved to Canada & Australia. Also Blacks - Grandmother (married to David) was Agnes. Her Brother & Sister definitely moved to Regina area of Canada.

I have traced our family back to Wm Alex Nesbitt b.1856. Married Mary Ann (?)b.1858. They had two children: Daughter Mary Ann b.1879 and Wm Howard Nesbitt b.1883 (My Grandfather).The family was then living in York West (Toronto, Ont). We have no idea what happened to his sister but Wm Howard moved to Penetanguishene and married Delima Beaudoin b.1890-91. Any help beyond this would be appreciated.
