Hi there I am looking for any info on my family. My grandparents Robert and Barbara Nisbet married in Haggs near Denny circa 1918. They had 5 children John,Margaret,Walter, Barbara and Robert. Hunting Information on Robert Nesbit born 1786 in Ireland. He was married to an Elizabeth who was born in 1780 in York, SC. His children were William A. Nesbitt of GA, Eth Nesbitt, James Nesbitt, Robert Hugh Nesbitt, and John Boyd Nesbitt all born and buried in GA. Robert married Elizabeth Louisa Peeler and James married a Celia. William married Elizabeth "Bettie" Moss whose father was Nicholas Moss. My Grandfather's father was Samuel Houston Nesbitt GA Born Mar 14, 1861 he married Margaret Louise Harkins. Since most were born in the 1800s, Samuel lived until 1950. If anyone can help me get further back and find out more about Robert Nesbit, I would appreciate it.

Need information on paiting listed on 1979 appraisal as " Girl in the Red Velvet Swing ". It is of a beautiful young lady, done in pastel oil, round, 24". There is a light green background, she is wearing a wide brimmed hat and has long hair. This painting was purchased at either an estate auction or at an antique show in the Lancaster, Hershey, York or Gettysburg area sometime in the late 1950's. I am trying to locate the descendants of Andrew & Margaret (Wilson) Nesbit. Margaret was born C1881 in the Parish of Hazelrigg, Northumberland. She was 8 months old and living in Longbenton, when the 1881 census was taken. Her parents were George and Mary Ann Wilson nee Torens. She married Andrew Nesbit and had the following children. Ethel who married Frank Scott and had two Male children. Annie Married and had 1 F child. Peggy Married had 1 F child. John M had 1M child, George Married Rose... Not known if they had children. I noted with interest that the 2006 gathering would be visiting Fenwick in Ayrshire. My mother is a Nisbet and her grandfather John Nisbet owned the farm (Mansheugh)in Fenwick around about 1900 to 1940. There were 3 sons Alexander ( my grandfather) David and John who all lived their lives in the Kilmarnock area. The farm dated back to 1600's and had links to the Covenanters with family tales telling off secret vaults used for illicit meetings. John Nisbet left the wife and family with the farm about 1912 and travelled to Canada and America. The details are sketchy but I'm sure a little bit of digging could reveal some more facts for anyone who is interested.

His Marriage to Lady Mary Faith Montagu in 1938 ended in divorce in 1940. His last years were spent on the Monterey Peninsula as a resident of Pacific Grove. Nesbitt died at the Monterey County Hospital on June 9, 1953. Primarily a watercolorist, he derived his subject matter from Haiti (1929), Hawaii (1930), the Orient (1936), and northern California. I am looking for information on Thomas Nesbitt, born 1775-1778. I have reason to beleive he is the son of Moses Nesbitt, but am not sure. I am the granddaughter of Lionel and Judith Nesbitt who came from St. Kitts/Nevis and then moved to Trinidad. I know that there is a long string of family members of the Nesbitt circle but I am not aware of my connections. I do know the history of the name hence the different spelling Nesbitt/Nisbet. What I was told is that our name was firstly Nisbet but because birth registry mixed up the letters in the name we carried the name Nesbitt since the birth of my grandparents or possibly before. Nice to know of the great number of Nesbitts/Nisbets in the world but i know that there are links close by as the name is not common.

I have recently lost an aunty who had started tracing back the family tree and found that we were decendents of Fanny Nisbet who was married to Lord Nelson, any connections out there. My father Leonard Robert Nisbet was the youngest of eight who was born in 1918 in Forest Gate East London he is still fighting fit. My mother was Marguerite Terese Nisbet, her parents were Robert Francis Nisbet and Eugenie Goslin. Robert was born in Canada in 1885?, his older brother was born in Boston following a sea journey from Scotland by their parents. They were originally headed for Australia but decided to go Canada due to his mothers poor health. I believe my cousin Joan Bishop (Fowles) has done some research into the Nisbet family using information from my Aunt Mary Fowles (Nisbet).
