I am Beverley Flora Francis. Robert James Nisbet was my Grandfather, he was born in Gypsland, Australia, 1877. Married Flora McMillan in NZ. My mother was Eileen Marion Nisbet born 17th July 1903.Robert James's father was Thomas Forbes Nisbet, born I think in 1844, Scotland. I am interested in finding out about Thomas Forbes. I was born in Belfast in 1947, the only son of Charles and Muriel Nisbet, and am married to Janice. My father was one of four sons, younger brother to Tom Misbet, RHA, of Dublin. My grandfather, Alec, left Edinburgh as a teenager to complete an apprenticeship in Belfast. I have cousins, David and Richard, in Ireland and three sons: Sean, in Cape Town and Jason and Nathan, who are with me in Johannesburg. I am interested in making contact with Nisbets, wherever they may be.

My Great Great Grandmother was Elizabeth Nisbet, daughter of Anthony Nisbet and Jane Moyes of London England. She emigrated to Australia about 1853 and married Richard Hyde in 1855 at Geelong Victoria. They lived in Ballarat Victoria and had two daughters Esther (1856-1942) and Ruth (1858-1859). Elizabeth died in 1860.

Hi my name is Rudy Nesbitt I was born in 1963 Bronx New York. My father was Joseph Nesbitt ( I never got to meet him) was born in the Virgin Islands (I think Nevin)? He lived in the West Indies (St.Croix) then moved to Bronx NYC. I was married to James Nisbet, who was born in Nitshill, near Glasgow. He emigrated with his family to Canada around 1955. His father was John Nisbet who worked as a blacksmith at the "Hurlet" near Nitshill. I know there are cousins in Scotland and in Canada

Any information on painting purchased at an auction in Hershey or Lancaster area in the late 1950's. It is refered to as "Girl in the Red Velvet Swing" in appraisal document from York in 1970's. It is in pastel, about 23". Beautiful young girl with wide brimmed hat, long strawberry blonde hair in what I call ringlet ( tubular ?) curls hanging over her shoulders and chest. Signed "Nesb_t", w/o date. My father Wm C Rickrode bought it at an estate auction; in 1957 +/-. It was listed in the auction as "Girl in Red Velvet Swing". My father was speaking to someone from the auction house about it and I remember hearing about the paiting may have been be a family member of the eatate. Mainly interested in history, previous ownership, name of artist........

Great site, easy to use. Searching for parent details of Mary Ann Nisbet b about 1815; d 13 Mar 1859 at St Andrews, Edinburgh; m John Dunlop b 1811 Renfrew. Marriage 22 May 1834 St. Cuthberts, Edinburgh. They had nine children. Mary Ann was my 2ggm. Death cert has her parents David Nisbet, Accountant, and Sarah Marshall, but I cannot track them in IGI or Scotlands People. Any help would knock down my brick wall! Cheers in obsession, Pedro.

My father at least as far as i know grew up in Falkirk. I am a first generation canadian but my brothers were born in scotland. Eoin Nisbet and Abraham Nisbet (deceased). My fathers name was also Abraham Nisbet (deceased). I live in Guelph Ontario Canada and Eoin lives outside of Waterloo Ontario Canada. My mother's name was Mary Campbell also from Falkirk. Family members that moved to Canada were Alec Campbell, Allison Campbell (Brown), and an uncle Jack Campbell briefly then returned to Scotland. I also had an uncle David Campbell (deceased) that moved to Canada from Falkirk. Uncle Alec moved from Canada with his wife Bessy to the US. Jackson Michican.
