I am researching the ‘’Nisbet’’ line of my family tree of which I have traced back to 1719 in Fife, however I am struggling with more recent Nisbets. These are the 3 son’s of David Nisbet and Jane Lindores Scott of Moncreiff Terrace, Edinburgh.
The names and Details are: -
David Nisbet B: 1883 D: ? Married Jessie Reid Mckay 1910.
George Nisbet B: 1885 D: 1969. Immigrated to Durban, South Africa.
John Nisbet B: 1890 D: c1980.
Please contact me if you feel you may have any details.

Your web site is fantastic. Frank Sr. passed away this February and I ran across papers about the
Nisbet heritage, and a copy of the Nisbet crest. That was great. I am starting a web development
business and was interested to find another Nisbet in Hawaii with a web business since 1996. I will
be spending more time learning about the Nisbet heritage. I am in Wyoming Minnesota, a small
town just north of the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

There are Nisbeths in Sweden too! My grandmothers father was Jan Axel Nisbeth, 9th generation from Wellam Nisbet, who entered the Swedish army under Gustav II Adolf in 1600. I have now been to Duns and seen The Nisbeth House, unfortunately private and no entrance permitted. There is also a Nisbeth tartan,Ì´ve seen it in Stirling, but I did not manage to buy it.

Name: Nancy Jane Harrell Maninger Email Address: email@example.com
My grandfather was Newell Jackson Nesbit, born Sept, 1879 married to Ivy Olive McCracken in Lowry City, MO. Dec. 25, 1904. I have the newspaper obituary for his death. My sister is Judith Nesbit Harrell Woodard. We have a brother, John Wilson Harrell. My mom was Mary Frances Nesbit and her sister was Mary Elizabeth Nesbit. Aunt "Beth" had 5 daughters. Some are in Arkansas, one here in WA where I am and one in Oklahoma City. There is a Nesbit book written by Charles Nesbit. This is a fun website and as I am now retired I'll spend more time searching for family roots. My mother's cousin, Janet, lived in MO and I visited her in 2000. She was about 90 yrs. old at that time. She took out an atlas and showed me where our family traveled....from England, helping King George invade Scotland, being rewarded with land near Glasgow, Scotland, then on to America. She was full of information. I'll learn more via your website. Thanks! Jane Maninger

My 5th cousin, Newton Alexander Nisbet, of Wildwood, FL researched our family for 25 years before publishing his "Nisbet Narrations". I received my copy in 1957, as the 4th child of Baxter Young Nisbet, married to Juniatta Heathcock McBee, in Hugo, OK, 1916. In 1979, I traveled to Duns, Scotland and my husband photographed Nisbet House which at the time was owned by the Murdoch family. I spent hours in the library in Duns, corroborating much of "Narrations" which dates back to the 900's. We photographed the Priory of Coldingham, overlooking St. Abbs, the landing place of Thor Longus, the Viking that Newton identified as the founder of the family before it was named Nesebyte. I attempted to authenticate the Nisbet tartan at the Court of Lords of Lyons in Edinburgh, but was told that there was no Nisbet tartan. However, since Sir Robert Nisbet married Margaret Home (Hume) of Wedderburn, we were allowed to wear the Home tartan. Miraculously, I found the real Nisbet tartan in Edinburgh.

Josiah was my great, great, great, great, great Grandfather. Documents from my great grandmother state that one of his children (or grandchildren)married the son of one of Nelson's uncles. I am trying to establish which of Josiah's daughters was my 4x great Grandmother. My great grandmother was born a Palmer. Her mother, Mary Elizabeth Clark (Mary's mother was Margaret Nelson Clark) had a brother named Joseph Nelson Clark who served in the Pennsylvannia Regiments. Up to my great Grandmother, there was always a son named for Nelson and a daughter named Francis (Fanny)in each family. I have a copy of a letter my great grandmother wrote with more information but she did not know her grandfather's first name. I need to know who were Margret Nelson's (Clark)parents and her husband's name. Thanks for any help!

Hello. I saw your web page, and hope something good may come of this. My great Aunt, Jane Blair, married Robert Nesbitt, abt. 1880, in Ireland. I believe their first child, Margaret Jane Blair, was born Feb. 28th., 1881, in Ahoghill, Antrim, Ireland. She is the only one of their children that I can get any info on. Their second child, David Blair Nesbitt, was born in Greennock, Scotland, in 1885.
David Blair came to Embro Ont. in 1911, and visted with my grandfather, William James Goldspink. William James marr. my granmother, Martha Blair, and it is her sister, Jane Blair, who marr Robert Nesbitt.
Robert and his wife Jane, are In 1891, and 1901 census' for South Shields, Durham. They had twins in England, but apparently they did not survive.
I have been able to locate David Nesbitt Senior's marr., as well as his son's birth, also called David Blair Nesbitt, born in 1917, in Durham England, along with two sisters..
I would appreciate any help.

Dont forget the Naisbitt,Naisbit.Nasebitt,Nasebett,Neisbitt,Nesbitt,Nesbit.Nesbet and Nesbett......all of which can be found in the northern counties of England(Durham,Northumberland and Yorkshire)
Writer has traced his family back to 1700s in Durham county and has found at least 4 spelling variations in the same family tree. The recording of the information, deciphering handwriting, lack of reading and writing skills...all contribute to spelling variations.
It is easy to understand that there are so many branches from the Nesbit tree, beginning in Berwick 1000 ad....
